Dining room changes

It was a gorgeous weekend up in Seattle and we finally got to make some changes in the dining room we've been looking forward to for a long time. It's still a project in progress, but I thought you'd like to see what we've done so far. Remember this photo, from when we made our window shades?

Well this is what that corner looks like now:

The plan is to get a kitchen island for this corner for a more practical workspace (and, um, take out the recycling!).

And the dining room that used to look like this:

Looks like this right now (taken from a different angle):

The plan here is to eventually refinish the table and get more comfortable chairs. Also, please ignore my ironing! I was a lazy photographer and didn't move anything! We sold the dark brown table on Craigslist. It was from my old apartment and was just too small for the space. Now we can fit four people for dinner (even without the leaf put in).

I also realized that you guys haven't really seen the rest of the dining room, which I usually call the "main room" since it feeds right off of the entry hall and is the biggest room in the house. My wishlist for this room includes a console table, antlers, and a china hutch. All in good time.

Behold, one of the two moving boxes that refuse to be unpacked eight months after moving.

Our bar cart is sadly not living up to its name at the moment. More like "cocktail napkin cart". Plus, I need to do something with that wall above it. Any suggestions?

Hope you had a great weekend! I have photos of our garden progress AND a few baking adventures!
