Was on The Makers the other day and loved these photos of Clair Cattilaz's studio. I took two semesters of ceramics in high school and I really miss it. These pictures really bring out what I love about it - the messiness, the slipperiness of the clay, and the juxtaposition of wet slimy clay to the dry and dusty clay that hardens and cracks. Ceramic art is really all about texture.
And for a little blast from the past, here is me my senior year of high school, showing off my pieces as they come out of the kiln from their first firing.
Until we own our dream house with my pottery studio, anyone know where I can throw and fire as a hobbyist?
