Living room changes

You probably know by now that if it's Saturday night and we don't have plans, I'll likely wind up trying to talk Ryan into moving around furniture. That's what I did last weekend, and this time he caved. We switched it up in the living room. It's not that the living room didn't already look nice. It's just that my little decorating heart just NEEDS to move stuff around. Since we're on a bit of a spending freeze, if I can't buy anything new to get a new look, well then I move things around.

Have a look (keep in mind that I tidied up only a little and that we haven't rehung any of the art).

I don't think I've ever blogged this lampshade diy (lamp is above, next to wingback). I glued a very thin (1/8 inch?) velvet ribbon to an Ikea lampshade. Very pretty in person.

And a rarely seen angle - the TV! It still needs some adjusting for optimal video game playing, but that requires unplugging and I'm not that ambitious!

Verdict: I like it, but I don't love it. There was no "lightbulb" moment that said "this is it!" but I think it works ok. Haven't fit the little sidetable back in (dreaming of a small round one instead). And you'll notice that the shelf that held our DVD's and games is gone (hanging out in the dining room until I figure out what to do with it). The DVD's are on the leaning shelves and by the record player. The games found a shelf in the office.

In general I'm just antsy for some decor change, and thinking of selling some pieces to make room/budget for new items. Seattle readers, want to make an offer on anything? Seriously ;)
