The devil is in the details

Some designers have an innate knack for the detail work - bringing in special touches and trims that take their design to the next level. This is a skill that I'm getting better at but still learning (luckily the key seems to be imagination and being open to inspiration!). I've had my eyes open for some great detail work, and I stumbled across designer Suellen Gregory's portfolio site. She has so many great details that she calls them out in a special section of her portfolio! I had to share. Best of all, her work has a great variety of styles that seem to truly fit each client's tastes and needs. So there is a lot for us to learn. Here are just a few of my favorite shots... A vintage desk gets a candy-colored hue and family photos.

A fun and modern room with great colors.

The mats and the lamp coordinate perfectly. And she chose a great print for the roman shade.

Mmmm pleats and stripes!

I want to steal this chair. And the casters, ahh! Plus, adorable corner detail on the throw pillow.

Lastly, I can't get enough of this antelope print carpet I've been seeing around lately. Sophisticated and unexpected.

Beautiful job, Suellen! Readers, do you have a favorite? Be sure to check out the rest of her site for lots of other great spaces.
