I had no intention of designing a room with a safari "theme" for today's post. The benches and zebra art were two of the first pieces I chose, along with the canopy bed. But somehow with the addition of the leather-arm chair that had a decidedly "Out of Africa" feel, the mood was undeniable. So here we are - though I think I added enough glam touches to make this less of a tent on the savannah and more of an elegant bedroom with just the air of the exotic.
Mostly I'm loving the neutral palette. With the warm woods and gold touches, a cool rug and refreshing whites were needed. The straight and modern lines of the bed, dresser, and glass vanity needed some curves to soften them - hence the patina'd feminine nightstands, and bone inlay chair at the vanity. As always, I like something "weird" or off-kilter, and those fab brass lamps are bringing it. I'm envisioning a soft lavender on the walls, lots of windows with soft white linen curtains. Perfect retreat whether at home or abroad.
